/>thank you Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant for sponsoring this post!
Baby, it’s cold outside! Atlanta is having a particularly extreme winter. These low temperatures are unusual for us. However, as a native Florida girl, I actually enjoy the winter weather! My skin, however, does not. I have extra dry skin throughout my whole body. My whole body just feels thirsty – does that make sense? My hands are cracking from the extra dry skin and my legs look – well, yuck! Add crutches to this situation and I now have very upset underarm areas! For real – itchy armpits is a real issue in my life right now! I use Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant and it really helps with my dry underarm skin. It’s making the crutches bearable! On top of that, the sweaters and layered gym clothes I’m wearing are rough on my underarms, so the Dove Advanced Care does a nice job of protecting and keeping that area smooth. It also provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection while being giving me softer, smoother underarms. Boom! I’ll take it!
three tips I use to help with my winter skin situation.
bye bye itchy armpits!
is it too cold for a sun tan?
Guys. Trust me on this – the sun is harming your skin. I don’t care how warm and strong the sun feels. Or how cloudy it is outside, or how cold the weather is. The sun is not your skins friend! Growing up in Florida I so badly wanted to be tan, but my Irish heritage said nay-nay. That didn’t stop me from sunbathing with no sunscreen. Now my skin is showing that horrendously bad mistake!
Even if it’s cold outside that doesn’t mean the sun isn’t causing damage. Use sunscreen!!!! I swear by SPF moisturizer for my skin and wear it every day.
sleepy time routing
I admit to being lazy and often skip the moisturizer which is not helping my extra dry skin. Maybe it’s because after getting out of the shower I’m cold and it’s one step I don’t feel like doing. That’s why I prefer to moisturize at night right before bedtime. That way it can sink in all night and won’t feel too gooey under my clothes during the day. Dr. Barba, the Dove Dermatologist, reminded me to moisturize everywhere, not just your hands and feet. During the winter months you’re liking lounging in pants and long sleeve shirts so be sure to roll those up and moisturize everywhere!
slow your roll – I mean your exfoliation roll!
Exfoliation helps get rid of dead skin cells, so that means it sucks in more moisture. Which is good in the winter, right? Wrong. This one I didn’t know myself. Dr. Barba shared that exfoliating in the winter is not something you should be doing often. Overdoing exfoliation will strip your skin of its natural oils. So when it’s cold and dry out you’ll actually be more prone to breaking out. So easy killer on that washcloth or exfoliation brush. Now is the time to pamper our skin not stress it out!
Be sure to check out Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant! Your extra dry skin will love it!
