a cute tradition to start
Holidays are all about traditions. Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing a few of mine. I’d love to hear yours! If you’re starting a new family or looking to add a new tradition this is an easy and inexpensive idea we started last year!
a family table runner
I have several nieces and nephews. We don’t live near each other so when we get together for Thanksgiving the cousins have a blast. I thought it would be fun to commemorate each Thanksgiving by creating a table runner they would add on to each year and grace the table for each year.
what you need
- inexpensive table runner – I used burlap
- hand paint
- paint brush
- permanete marker
Each year, have each child whose there make a turkey handprint. Write their name and have them decorate it. Do a grouping with a year by each hand.
Use the runner on the table. Each year as new babies are born, or families grow the handprints will change. It will be a cute decoration and talking point each year to see the hands grow!
