I grew up loving to read. I’ll admit to not making enough time for it in my adult life, but I still do love a great book. For me, I have to get into a story pretty quickly. Because I’m a Mom always running in a ton of directions, I just can’t give a book a long time to capture my interest!
Here are books that grabbed me immediately and were the types of stories I just couldn’t put down. These are the “I’ll cancel my plans to finish this book” stories I just loved!

This is one of those books that I read while walking down the hallway because I couldn’t put it down! What a fabulous read. After finishing it I then devoured every book this author ever wrote! The book is about siblings who grew up in Malibu, the children of an absentee pop star father. Together they throw an end of summer party, with family drama both bringing them together and pulling them apart all at once.
This book is about a 50s film star and her insane rise to fame and all the torture Hollywood puts someone through. Told through her tales of love and loss, this is a sexy, jaw-dropper of a love affair story that I couldn’t put down!
Laura Dave is just an easy read. She’s an excellent story teller! This is a story about a husband who disappears on day without any notice. They had a happy marriage so what happened? When the FBI appears a bizarre story unfolds which makes her question the past she thought she knew.
Told you I love this author! This is her third book I recommend. Daisy Jones is about a 70s era band’s atmospheric rise to one of the top bands in the world and their quick, and ultimate fall. The rhythm will take a minute to get used to. It’s told a la VH1’s “Behind the Music” interview style. If you love the book, you WILL LOVE the show. Holy cow. The show may have even been better, but yet the book far from disappoints!
When I was a new Mom to a Toddler, I was looking for parenting books with tips to raise my daughter within my husband and my personal goal for her. We weren’t really keen to the “can’t go out to eat” or “can’t have a house with nice things” way of parenting. We wanted to raise children who were kind, respectful and could learn to behave that way. This book positively rocked my world, and is one of the books that was a turning point. And guess what? 15 years later I’m here to tell you the tips worked! We eat out all the time (never once have iPads EVER been allowed), have a beautiful home and kind and respectful children who joined OUR world, rather than us joining a two year olds world! A worthy read indeed.
Well. This book has me turning the pages and reaching for the highlighter. What a fabulous parenting book with ideas and tips! It’s excellent!!!! I have had the pleasure of seeing Andy preach in person a ton because he’s the pastor of the Church we attended for years. He and his wife share some really excellent ideas. This is a quick read and one you and your parenting “other” will turn to over an over!
