This year I turn 40. I’ve had good skin most of my life, with the exception of clogged pores and acne from working out and post gym sweat. I’ve had aestheticians and plastic surgeons help throughout the years, (read my blog post on fillers and botox here). However, I’ve been striving towards a consistent skincare routine that works for me to keep my skin in good health and glow. Thanks to my friends Ann and Natalie and their product recommendations, I’ve started a regime I’m really pleased with!
I’ve been using many of these skincare products for years, and the news ones like the Pixi Glow Tonic for over a month. So my information comes from a point of view of seeing good results the longer I stick to this morning skincare routine.
Here is my skincare regime for the morning beginning with no makeup to before I put makeup on.
I’ll cover applying makeup and evening skincare in future posts, so be sure you get my newsletter to know when the posts come out!
Good Morning!
This is me with no makeup. Here we go!
Step 1
I begin by washing my face with drugstore cleanser to clean it gently. Once it’s patted dry I begin using products. I’m careful to let each product dry and soak in between applications. Pick out your clothes, brush your teeth or make your bed in between steps to give each product time to seep in!
Step 2
I begin with Pixi Glow Tonic. I use a little on a cotton pad to cleanse my entire face and neck area.
This tonic has 5% glycolic acid. It helps to gently exfoliates skin. It contains aloe vera to help soothe skin and prevent any irritation that can come from exfoliating. I’ve really noticed a difference since using it!
Pixi Glow Tonic finds leftover residue on my skin! This is a very gentle tonic and has made a definite difference in making my skin softer!
step 3
Step 3
Next up is my favorite – SkinCeuticals Award Winning C E Ferulic Vitamin C Serum
Please note that this product is only valuable if you are using a retinol as part of your regimen. It pairs perfectly with retinol but on it’s own it doesn’t do much. It’s expensive and my doctors have said it’s only worth it if paired with a retinol of your choice.
I only use about three drops. This is liquid gold and there’s no need to over use it! Gently pat it into your skin and neck.
You will likely feel a slight tingling feeling.
Step 4 Alternative
An alternative to the expensive Skinceuticals C E Feulic acid is a bottle of The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%. If you use this along with a Vitamin C solution you have an affordable version of the Skinceuticals product.
I’ll be doing a full review of The Ordinary products soon! They deserve an entire blog post!
Step 5
I let my skin dictate whether I use moisturizer in the morning or night. Some days my skin wakes up dry, others it feels moisturized. However, I always use moisturizer at least once a day.
I love AveSeena Ageless Perfection Cream. This and the standard Oil of Olay Regenerist are my preferred facial moisturizers.
A big plus of the AveSeena Ageless Perfection cream is how sanitary it is. You press the button for the exact amount of cream needed to dispense. The cream does have a rose scent.
The ingredients are all organic and natural. For a full list of ingredients visit this site.
Step 6
Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair Cream is my favorite (I know others who swear by it, too!) It’s ultra thick, yet soaks in enough to go underneath makeup. Use AM and PM.
That’s it for my morning skincare routine! After this I’m ready to begin my makeup routine!
Blog posts coming on this so be sure you get my newsletter to know when it’s posted!
GREAT to the point blog post! I LOVE The Ordinary products (got hooked after watching Wayne Goss videos) & can’t wait for your blog about them!!!
