This year I think everyone is looking for the feeling of warmth, relaxation, and escape. But most importantly – simplicity and not breaking the bank. For this fall tablescape I chose to invoke both of those feelings. This look brings a clean look to your dining room table and makes for a fabulous modern Thanksgiving table decor. It has a white table decor theme but color can be added with round rattan placemats, wicker placemats, faux magnolia leaves, and faux cedar stems. Literally the possibilities are endless! For the holidays you can add a Thanksgiving table runner to add a little fancy, and top it off with a magnolia centerpiece. The final touch if you want to go big in your home is to add some cheap long stem wine glasses. BAM! You’ve got a modern faux floral table ready to go this Thanksgiving!
This fall tablescape can easily be used all October through November, and then quickly transform with a few changes to Christmas. This will help stretch the dollars you spend and create less work for you!
Fresh Warm & Long Lasting
The theme is based around a traditional southern fall look – I am madly in love with the look and smell of magnolia – but fresh magnolia doesn’t last long.
I am a devoted believer is silk faux florals (see I how used FAUX FLOWERS OUTDOORS or ON THIS CHRISTMAS TREE, or ON THIS SPRING ARRANGEMENT!)
This entire tablescape is exclusively faux fall floral from AFloral.com – one of my favorite places to buy faux flowers. This way you can buy once, use for months, and keep for the upcoming year. Silk florals are a one-time investment but give you your monies worth in how long they last!
Floral Arrangement with Faux Cedar Stems
Cheap Long Stem Wine Glasses for Added Flare
We all pull the fine china out for holidays and special occasions but there’s no reason to spend a fortune on your table setting. Cheap long stem wine glasses serve a dual purpose in both look and function. Even if the table isn’t going to be used that day, turn those cheap long stem wine glasses and it adds some elegance to the setting.
What you need to create this autumn table
- Silk Magnolia Leaves
- Silk Magnolia flowers
- Faux Greenery
- Burlap Table Runner
- Whatever napkins or plates you have around – I chose to use these THANKSGIVING TURKEY
- plates I found on clearance last year.
- Birch vase is optional, but I love it for its rustic charm.
White Table Decor
How to Create the Faux Floral Flower Vase:
Adding flowers doesn’t have to mean blooms. Greenery can look just as fresh, especially in a kitchen as shown here. The greenery adds a splash of color to your white table decor. Look as though you spent the morning plucking branches from your backyard by adding just faux greenery stems!
- I used chicken wire balled up so the stems had something to grab to.
- Place the leaves all the way around the sides and center.
- Add magnolia florals where ever you want – I used three in each.
- Add the greenery on sides to fall over the edge.
Wicker Placemats or Round Rattan Placemats?
Both styles are increasingly popular if you are going for a Southern modern style on your table. These two designs have similarities but are quite different. Your wicker placements are a little more delicate both in feel and look and can create a softer tone. Round rattan placemats are firm but very functional for your table. Whatever you go with, the wicker placemats or the round rattan placemats, both are a great pick and will provide a smooth color break with the white table decor.

Magnolia Centerpiece with Faux Magnolia Leaves
I love all things Magnolia, so it’s no surprise that I chose a magnolia centerpiece. This arrangement is simple, keeping to the white table decor theme yet bringing in a touch of green in the Magnolia faux leaves and brown which match the placemats and table runner. Included int this Magnolia centerpiece are some faux cedar stems which break up the green tones in the faux Magnolia leaves. The Magnolia cedar stems bring together the touch of brown in the table runner and the centerpiece.
That’s it! This took all of 30 minutes to create and now I don’t have to touch it until January!
The burlap adds texture to your table and is super affordable. If you want to fool everyone at Thanksgiving burn a magnolia scented candle, or just fill the house with food aroma and no one will question whether it’s real! Or if they do find out you used fake flowers, they’ll be jealous they didn’t think of it to save time and money!
How to Store Faux Flowers:
- Super, super easy! I buy a Tupperware for mine. The magnolia stems can easily be smooshed into the Tupperware, and place the delicate flower buds on top.
- You can store in a non-air conditioned place so an attic is just fine.

In this tablescape I used:
- Two birch vases (you can totally use 1, especially if you have a round or smaller table)
- 6 bunches of silk flowers per arrangement
- 3 Magnolia flowers per arrangement with faux Magnolia leaves
- 3 Greenery per arrangement with faux cedar stems
- 1 Burlap runner – Sources HERE or HERE.
- Optional Thanksgiving plates – I like these HERE and HERE.
- Finish up with some cheap long stem wine glasses.
Thanksgiving Table Runner
Keep it out all fall or set it up on the holiday! A Thanksgiving table runner adds an extra touch of color and simple elegance to your table. Wicker placemats that match your Thanksgiving table runner can help balance out some color to prevent overdoing the white table decor. Plus they are a nice touch to a nice dinner placement. When you’re pulling together some modern Thanksgiving table decor, a runner is a must! Top it off with your Magnolia centerpiece and your table is in fabulous shape!
Modern Thanksgiving Table Decor
You’ve got your placemats set, your runner in place, your centerpiece with the faux Magnolia leaves and faux cedar stems placed, your cheap long stem wine glasses ready to fill. You’ve got yourself a modern Thanksgiving table decor you will never forget!
Be sure to get the newsletter – I’ll be showing you how to take this exact tablescape and update it in December for Christmas without re-doing it!
How easy is that? A beautiful traditional, southern inspired table that’s both affordable and requires less time. Use this modern Thanksgiving table decor this holiday and enjoy!
Now take a breather, poor some (spiked?) apple cider and go relax – goodness knows we all need it!
