vacation summer dress

I’m patting myself on the back on choosing dresses that seem to be crowd favorites. However, it’s been a tiny bit at a disadvantage because I’ve not been able to share them with all of you because they’ve been selling out so quickly! This vacation summer dress was one of them and it sold out within a few weeks. But it’s back in stock! Whew.

For those of you wondering why there are so many fashion posts lately, allow me to explain. When I started this blog over a year ago I had zero intention of featuring me in clothes. Zero. Nada. No way in hell is actually what I thought. I don’t in the slightest fancy myself a model and I felt like clothes should be left to the younger bloggers.

But along the way I found myself feeling like I was doing a disservice to social culture. We aren’t all model size and height. Nor do we have our 20 something year old bodies! Things are a’changing and gravity is kicking in!

Being in my late 30s and having had three children, I thought seeing clothes on a real person like me would be helpful. A dress looks fabulous on a 5’11, 100 pound model, but what about a 5’5, 130 pound women?

Today’s post features this midi length off shoulder ruffle dress. I’ve been slow to jump on the off the shoulder trend. Some that I try on just don’t work for me. I do, however, like this dress and here’s why:

The ruffles allow for some extra coverage on your lady parts which makes the need for a strapless bra next to nothing. It also helps amp up women with smaller breasts. I wear this cami underneath and think it’s a perfect amount of support and coverage for my body.
The ruffle elastic is much more loose so it actually stays down better. Others I’ve tried on pop right up on your shoulders. Super annoying.
The embroidery, trim detail, ruffles and length provide an overall beautiful effect that makes this dress feel a little something special. It stands out but not in an obnoxious way. It’s easy summer style.
